The Original Joe Camel was conceived in the 1950’s
by an unknown art director in France working on a
T-shirt promotion for the brand in Europe.January 1, 1971, the Marlboro Man rode across Americas
television screens one last time.In 1974 Joe Camel was born, Created by British artist
Nicholas Price for a Camel campaign in France, imported
by Reynolds in 1988.In 1991. Introduced with the slogan “smooth character,”
Joe Camel was a cartoon version of the dromedary
(known as Old Joe) that has appeared on packages of Camel
cigarettes since 1913. Ads and billboards featured Joe
Camel in a tuxedo, hanging out at a nightclub, playing in
the blues band known as “The Hard Pack”, sitting on a
motorcycle in a leather jacket and shades, shooting pool.
He was cool, hip, and popular. Alot like of other models
in a lot of other cigarette ads, except he was a cartoon
animal instead of a human being. After the launch of the
Camel character.Meet “The Hard Pack”
Although Joe wasn’t an official Hard Pack member, He
occasionally played piano with The Hard Pack, a bluesband
featuring, his four cool friends, Bustah on guitar, Eddie
on Drums, Floyd on Sax and Max on Harmonica.
When Reynolds killed off Joe, it marked the end of one of
the most successful campains in modern history firing up
the collectibles market , with collectors nationwide
re-evaluating their Camel posters, purses, lighters, salt
& pepper shakers ect.

I have found JOE Camel stuff from NY to CA. Swapmeet to storage Sales. I got too much to keep around so I put my collection here so I can see it once and awhile. I have a couple friends in Ill. and AR. that help me find cool stuff also.
